We opened Ship Bottom Shellfish in the early 80s. By the time we opened Mud City Crab House in 1999, we were a part of so many family’s traditions and are integral to countless more today between our six eateries.
Our restaurants have long been known for quality and attention to detail, and we extend that to any special event you may have with our venue and catering services.
Those who had come to know us for the freshest, most creatively served seafood and dining experiences had a desire to spend their most special days with us - beach weddings, anniversaries, engagement parties, baby showers, birthday and other celebrations. They sought to mark these occasions at our venues with private parties and custom food and drink menus in the atmospheres rich in the stories and character of the Long Beach Island region. And we are honored to host them.

Parker’s Garage and Oyster Saloon
Beach Haven’s Maritime District teems with history. When you come to visit by land -or tying up to one of our boat slips – we hope you feel that authenticity in every cedar shake and the taste of each oyster. Long Beach Island is ideal for your dream event. Between our natural scenery and hardworking vendors, we have amazing options for your special day with a beach vibe.
Picture the perfect dress, a customized menu, strings of soft lights and your favorite music, all with a laid-back beach style. We can accommodate up to 180 of your friends and family – even the ones who don’t eat oysters (yet.).
The Black Whale Bar & Fish House
There was a time not long ago that a cruise would set sail in the evening. Passengers would go sailing out Little Egg Inlet as the sun would set. They’d arrive in Atlantic City for a night on the town and then make the voyage back under the stars. It was a boat on which people would celebrate special occasions. And when we opened our spot in 2005 that would become the favorite neighborhood bar in Beach Haven , a block from those docks, we knew we wanted to name it after the Black Whale.
Today the Black Whale is expanded. Our upstairs event space can hold 40 people with views down Centre Street toward sunsets over the bay. It’s ideal for small weddings, showers and rehearsal dinners in the Queen City.
Bird & Betty’s
Beach Haven was alive, as young people filled up the little bungalows all over town. They woke early to head offshore for a day of fishing or dawn patrol surf at Holyoke. It was an electrifying time filled with new music, fresh energy and ways of thinking full of sunsets, fresh catch, and skateboarding. LBI still has some of that carefree feel and Bird & Betty’s celebrates that.
Bird & Betty’s with its unique retro 1970s feel is the perfect place for a private function full of fun food and crafted cocktails. From the band rocking our stage, the DJ dropping beats, or a wild upstairs afterparty with vintage Skee ball and lounge, we keep the drinks flowing while you groove.
